Get the Perfect Bikini Line with Waxing

For many people, summertime means showing off more skin, whether they're wearing a new sundress or a beautiful bikini. Showing more skin can mean more frequent hair removal of the legs, underarms, and bikini line. Waxing the bikini line is one helpful and longer-lasting method for getting rid of unwanted hair.

Of course, you could book a visit to the salon for a beautician's expertise, but that could end up costing you quite a bit of money. You may be surprised by how easy it is to achieve salon-quality results for up to 28 days, all in the comfort and privacy of your own home by using Veet® Ready-to-Use Wax Strips. You may even save yourself some money on those potential salon bills! Take a look at our guide below to find out more.

Step by Step

Before you start, make sure your hair is at least a quarter-inch long – if not, the wax might not be able to grab the hair properly[1]. Take a shower and use a mild exfoliator to clean up any dirt or dead skin before you begin waxing. Before you wax, it can be a good idea to apply some powder on the skin, such as baby powder, so the wax just attaches to the hair and not to the skin[2]. It will also help to soak up any moisture or oils on the skin.

Find somewhere comfortable to do your bikini wax. You could try laying a towel on the floor or on your bed to protect from any potential mess. One technique is to lie on the end of your bed with your feet flat on the floor and a pillow to prop your head up so you can see what you are doing – it may be a little tricky, but keep a mirror on hand to help with those hard-to-see areas.

Cold wax strips must be warmed up first by rubbing them between your hands. Place your wax strips on the area of hair of your choice, and press the wax down onto the hair. Hold your skin taught, grip the wax strip, and tug quickly against the direction of hair growth.

Waxing may not get every hair the first time, but try to avoid waxing the same area of skin twice during a waxing session[3]. Any remaining hairs can always be tackled using tweezers. After waxing, wipe the area with one of the finishing wipes that comes with the Veet Ready-to-Use Wax Strips.

For a little extra TLC, apply an aloe-based gel or lotion to help soothe the skin. Be sure to gently exfoliate the waxed area two days after the hair removal to help reduce the risk of ingrown hairs.[4]

With a few simple steps, you should be super confident, ready to go out and enjoy the sun in your pretty new swimsuit!
