With the stress of Christmas closing in on you, it is important to take some time for yourself – and let’s be honest, who can afford a full-blown spa weekend at this time of the year?
Here are some ways to take some time out and treat yourself from the comfort of your own home. Trust us, your body (and mind) will thank you.
- Make your own hair mask
There are so many different types of hair masks you can choose from, but seeing as Christmas is coming up, try out this festive cinnamon version to get yourself in the spirit:
Combine half a cup of honey, half a cup of olive oil and two tablespoons of cinnamon powder in a bowl. Mix it all together until it is thick and smooth. Apply the mask to damp hair, wrap your hair in cling film and leave it in for a couple hours to work its Christmas magic.
After a couple hours, rinse out the mask with warm water then shampoo and condition your hair as normal. Finally, stand back and appreciate, your skin should look healthier, smoother and shinier!
- Give yourself a manicure
Start by cleaning your nails and removing any old polish with varnish remover. Do not pick at them.
Trim nails to your preferred length and file with an emery board, making sure to file in the same direction every time. If you’re going to be preparing dinner, keeping them short may be the best option.
Soak your hands in soapy, warm water for five minutes, then massage with cuticle oil and leave to dry.
Once dry, polish with a festive color of your choosing. If you want to keep your nails healthy-looking, always use a base coat and finish with a top coat to avoid any chips.
- Drink mint and lemon infused water
One of the biggest trends to hit Instagram recently was infused waters, and we’ve found this lemon and mint infused water not only tastes great but will leave you ready for a week of celebrating.
All you have to do is add half a lemon and three mint leaves to eight ounces of water and you’re set!
- Treat yourself to a wax
