In the cold months of winter, it’s sometimes easy to forget the feeling of sun on your skin. Between wind, rain, and dropping temperatures, it can be tempting to stay in hibernation mode, which we all know can sometimes interrupt your hair-removal routine.
However, if you’re up for adventure, winter can be a great time of year to get that little fix of sun that your body craves! Whether you like exploring a bustling city, sunning it up on the beach, or giving yourself some well-deserved rest and relaxation, there’s bound to be a destination that hits the spot. Here are a few popular spots for winter sun seekers, and of course, some last minute hair removal tips that should have you glowing before you even take off.
If your priority on vacation is to hit the waves and soak up the sun, then Miami could be a great spot for you to visit. Adorned with miles of white sand beach, the city is known for its hip party scene, immaculate style and architecture, and incredible beaches. Miami not only offers you the perfect chance to take in that sunshine you’ve been sorely missing, but it’s vivacious night-life means you can flaunt your smooth skin and your dance moves well into the night!
If you’re the type to get restless after a couple of hours on the beach, a short city break might be a better choice for you. Marrakech is bustling tourist destination year-round, with blissful temperatures reaching around 60F in the winter months, perfect for exploring this meandering city without working up too much of a sweat. You’ll find plenty of outings to keep you busy, between exploring the city’s colorful markets, trying your best Berber dance moves, or getting scrubbed from head to toe at a traditional Moroccan bathhouse. The seasonal weather is the perfect chance to shed that winter coat and boots. Although a modest dress code is generally followed throughout the city, you can still rock a summer dress while covering shoulders and knees.
Rest and Relaxation
Sometimes all we really need is to put up our feet, listen to the sounds of the waves, and get lost in a good book. For someone who seeks peace and privacy, Barbados is renowned for its selection of private clubs and spas that offer you the chance to have the winter vacation of your dreams while hardly lifting a finger. Many of the island’s historical Colonial buildings have been converted into small secluded resorts, some with their own top rated restaurants, spa services, and private pools! During your stay, you can check out the island’s world-famous beaches, or dare to dapple in one of the local rum shacks... or you could simply kick back in the comfort of your very own hammock!
Prepping is Essential
As with all hair removal methods, we recommend that you leave at least 24 hours before partaking in swimming or sunbathing, so planning ahead is the best approach. Breaking out of winter hibernation may mean that your skin could do with a little extra love and care before you get away. We recommend wax strips, such as Veet® Wax Strips, which can even be used on your delicate bikini line.
Waxing can give you long-lasting smooth results, so that way you won’t have to worry about any touchups while you’re away! You may be worrying what to pack, but give yourself the time to do your wax a few days before you travel. Start by giving yourself a good scrub in a hot shower. The exfoliation can help to wash away any dead skin, making it easier for the wax to grab each hair firmly, and the warm water can help to open up your pores, allowing for an easier release of the follicle.
The wax strips are ready to use and enable you to remove hair instantly without having to warm the wax in a microwave. Simply rub the strips between your hands and you’re ready to go – but make sure that your skin is completely clean and dry beforehand to ensure that the wax works most effectively. After your wax, it can be good to apply some moisturizer to alleviate any redness. Keep up the moisturizing routine and you’ll be dazzling by the time your flight takes off.
We hope we’ve inspired you to break out of your winter slump this year. Perhaps it’s time to shake out that summer wardrobe and hunt down a flight to your favorite sunny spot!
