Is your hair looking less than glamorous? Make an appointment at a nearby salon and ask about face-flattering, shorter styles. While you’re there, talk color—it can make a difference. If you’re not ready to dye it one drastic color, why not add highlights? They’ll really lighten up and change your look without being too over-the-top.
Toss out that old foundation! Invest in a new brand that perfectly matches your skin tone. Test different shades of foundation along your jaw line, not on your hand or on the inside of your wrist. Then view it under different light settings—it should match the natural color of your neck. Be sure to hide dark under eye circles or blemishes with peach- or yellow-toned concealers.
Give your skin the glow it deserves. All it takes is the right shade of blush to get a rosy complexion. If your complexion is fair, use a light pink or peach shade; if you have darker skin, try golden pink or berry shades. Smile and sweep the blush from the apple of your cheeks up to your hairline, ending at your temples or apply some bronzer on top of your blush and blend at the cheekbones.
Show off dazzling, beautiful eyes. Accentuate your eyes with a dark eye liner on your upper lashes and some eye shadow. Use shades that compliment your eye color—copper for blue eyes, deep purples for green eyes, and gold tones for hazel eyes. Use an eyelash curler on lashes—hold for at least ten seconds—and coat with lengthening mascara.
Update your style in a snap—with a few jewelry trends! Long, chunky chain necklaces add flair to any outfit. Try layering several necklaces with different shapes and beads. Cuff bracelets in gold and silver also add a simple but unique dressing to bare arms. Big, colorful rings, known as statement or cocktail rings, also add some flash to your everyday look. And don’t forget earrings—dangling earrings in bright colors really work well when you pull your hair back.
Tip: To really make your shadow last on a long night out, first apply some clear lip gloss on eyelids, and then top with shadow.
